Professor Schuh to Resign from his Position as Vice-Rector

24/05/2012

On May 18, 2012, Professor Günther Schuh declared in writing that he was resigning from his position as Vice Rector for Industry and Research at RWTH Aachen University, effective November 30, 2012.

Earlier this year, the Rector of RWTH Aachen University, Prof. Ernst Schmachtenberg, had accepted Prof. Schuh’s reasons to join Mr. Röttgen’s shadow cabinet. The University Management is of the view that – as a matter of course – university members are entitled to engage in political activities and that it is the responsibility of the individual to accommodate the different aspects and perspective that these activities entail.

With great respect, the Rector has accepted Prof. Schuh’s recent decision to resign from his position as Vice Rector.

He thanks Prof. Schuh for his outstanding achievements over the past four years – to name just one example, Schuh had initiated and developed the University’s unique and internationally recognized “RWTH Aachen Campus” research park.

Günther Schuh was – and remains – an important initiator and motivator at the University. The University looks forwards to continuing to draw on his valuable experience and engaged work.
