Students from the US and Canada to Conduct Research at RWTHCopyright: Peter Winandy
As part of the UROP program, 40 students from the United States and Canada will visit RWTH in the upcoming summer months. For eight weeks, they will be undertaking individual research projects under supervision of RWTH academic staff.
The UROP International take-off event will take place on June 4, 2012, from 9am at the SuperC Building, Templergraben 57.
The “International” branch of UROP, the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program, is designed for students from North American universities who wish to gain research experience by conducting research projects at RWTH Aachen University.
The program, which is part of the University’s Institutional Strategy and receives funding from the Excellence Initiative, takes place during the summer months each year, between June and the end of July.
This year’s participants come from 24 universities, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the University of California at Berkeley, and the Georgia Institute of Technology.
UROP also has a program for Aachen students who wish to undertake research projects in the US and Canada: “UROP Abroad” makes it possible for RWTH Bachelor’s students to conduct research projects at high-profile universities and research institutions in North America. Students who are interested in participating in the program have the chance to apply to one of the currently 140 advertised projects.
