Lecture Series on the Excellence Initiative at RWTH

Professor Martina Ziefle from the HumTec project house will hold  the second lecture on the Excellence Initiative, titled "The Feasibility of Life at Home in Old Age Supported by Technology."

One of the largest social challenges is dealing with demographic change. The increasing number of older people requiring care, the increasing life expectancy, and the associated probability of chronic disease, as well as the lack of caretakers and the holes in the medical supply chain lead to this basic question: Which technical solutions will enable older people to live long term and safely at home?

Funded by the Excellence Initiative, an intelligent living room has been built as a living lab in the "eHealth" HumTec program. Using empirical and experimental methods, researchers are determining what factors influence the acceptance and usability of new medical technologies and living concepts, how humans interact with invisible technology, and how doctor-patient communication can be changed through technical facilitation.

The event will take place Wednesday, June 1, at 7 pm in the Auditorium of the Centre Charlemagne, Katschhof 1, Aachen. Admission is free of charge; registration is not required. Please note that the lecture will be given in German.
