Strong Results for RWTH in Student Survey

08/05/2018

The ranking by the Centre for Higher Education, CHE for short, was published on May 8, 2018, in the ZEIT Student Guide 2018/19.

The ranking does not award specific placements but groups universities into top, mid-level, and final groups for individual indicators. In this year’s issue, which presents assessments of degree programs in biology, chemistry, math, physics, computer science, geography, geosciences, political science, medicine, and dentistry, RWTH has been positively rated.

The ranking is based on a large number of indicators such as breadth of course offerings, quality of supervision, and job relevance, for example. The results of a student survey, which is part of the ranking, show that RWTH students are generally very pleased with the overall study conditions, conflict-free course scheduling, and scientific orientation of the degree programs, among other criteria. Students of medicine, in particular, rate their degree program to be excellent: the course of study has been placed in the top group for 15 indicators.

Moreover, the students are happy with the support for beginning students and the duration of studies: compared to other German universities, the average time-to-degree in Bachelor’s programs at RWTH is shorter.

For the indicators published in the ZEIT Study Guide, the degree programs in computer science, chemistry, and geosciences of study have been consistently placed in the top group.
