Dr. Amit Telang, Consul General of the Republic of India, recently visited RWTH. Rector Ulrich Rüdiger warmly welcomed Telang at the RWTH Main Building. They agreed to further intensify the very good relations between the institution and the country.

RWTH, for instance, is enjoying growing popularity among Indian students, with over 1,900 enrollments at last count. Embedded in its Strategic Partnership with IIT Madras, RWTH is engaged in interdisciplinary projects with partners in India, especially in the Indo-German Centre for Sustainability (IGCS) and the Global Water and Climate Adaptation Centre – Aachen, Bangkok, Chennai, Dresden (ABCD-Centre), which was newly established in 2021. Numerous research projects, for example in applied microbiology, textile technology, hydraulic engineering and water management, medical information technology, architecture, material sciences, and geosciences, demonstrate the range and potential of scientific collaborations. RWTH also especially values its links with India, as demonstrated by its special liaison office in New Delhi.
