Number of Students at RWTH Continues to Rise

The number of students enrolled at RWTH has risen again in winter semester 2019/20. The University has a total of 45,628 students as of November 5, 2019. The number of female students at RWTH totals 14,994, which represents a proportion of 33 percent of the student body.

 

A total of 10,230 students enrolled in their first core semester in winter semester 2019/20. Computer science saw the largest increase in new subject enrollments, with 438 more than the previous year. Mechanical engineering is still the University’s largest faculty with a total of 12,435 students; 2,532 are in their first core semester.

The number of international students at RWTH also increased, with 11,280 international students enrolled in winter semester 2019/20. The country representing the largest group of international students is China, with 22 percent of international enrollments. This is followed by India, which accounts for 12 percent of the international student body.
