"StudiFinder" Creates Better Guidance
On behalf of the North Rhine-Westphalia Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Research Prof. Dr. Heinrich Wottaw designed a new comprehensive orientation tool for studies at universities together will all public universities and univerisities of applied sciences in the state: StudiFinder goes online October 25, 2012. Prof. Dr. Marold Wosnitza from the Institute of Education and head of the self assessment team at RWTH Aachen welcomed this device, which he had encouraged.
RWTH Aachen offers eleven subject field specific self assessments in addition to StudiFinder. Participants get to know the demands of certain subject fields at RWTH Aachen better, since the tests were created through close collaboration with representatives from the individual faculties. As a result, they find out if they are suited to a subject. Individual feedback rounds out the self assessments. "We recommend completing them in the eleventh grade, in order to best prepare for studies at RWTH Aachen," said Wosnitza.
125000 participants have used the RWTH Aachen self assessments so far. Current analyses have shown that success in studies can be predicted greatly by the results. For this reason, individuals interested in enrolling at RWTH Aachen have needed to present proof of participation in the self assessments since winter semester 2011/12. Medicine and dentistry are excluded.
