International Conference on Seismic Design of Industrial Facilities

The RWTH Aachen Chair of Structural Statics and Dynamics is holding the International Conference on Seismic Design of Industrial Facilities on September 26 and 27, 2013. Approximately 150 participants from science and industry will attend to learn about the seismic design of industrial facilities. Not least because of the earthquakes in China and Japan with devastating consequences, this topic has gained more interest in recent years. Other conference topics include the seismic design of primary structures and non-structural components, the influence of soil-structure interaction, as well as assessment and retrofitting of existing industrial facilities. Following the conference is a Chinese-German symposium on the topic "Seismic Safety Assessment and Disaster Mitigation of Industrial Facilities". This is being organized by the Chair of Structural Statics and Dynamics in collaboration with Dalian University of Technology. The symposium aims at working out future bilateral research projects. The SeDIF-Conference is funded by the DFG. The symposium is receiving financial support from the Sino-German Center for Research Promotion.
