RWTH student receives award from German Academic Exchange Service DAAD.

Aziz Ghanouchi is from Tunesia and has studied mechanical engineering at RWTH since winter semester 2015/16. He is one of the top students in his cohort. Aside from his studies he is involved in various social projects. As a buddy for the Mechatronics Systems Engineering and Product Innovation Summer School he supported an international student, helped participants orient themselves in the city and on campus, and shared his experiences about studying in Aachen. Ghanouchi also worked with the Sprachenakademie Aachen to help refugees learn German and provided tips for everyday life. Furthermore he is active in the RWTH BeBuddy program and is currently mentoring a Chilean student.

Ghanouchi was awarded with the 2017 DAAD Award for International Students for his academic achievements and intercultural engagement during the Welcome Week for international students. The RWTH Aachen International Office holds the Welcome Week annually to provide international students with a good start to their studies. Malte Brettel, vice-rector for industry and business relations at RWTH, presented him with the award certificate.
