2020 Council Elections in All Groups

The elections for the Senate and the faculty councils for all university groups will be held from June 29 to July 3, 2020. These are also referred to as the academic elections.

Votes for the group of academic staff and the group of technical and administrative employees will be cast by postal mail. For the group of university instructors, votes will be cast online for the first time this year. Votes for the student group will be cast in a ballot. It is also possible to request a postal vote instead by contacting the Election Office.

At the same time, AStA Student's Committe will hold elections for the student representative councils, such as the student parliament and the faculty student councils. Votes for these elections are also cast in a ballot, but students may also apply for a postal vote if necessary. For further information, please refer to the web pages of the student body's Election Committee.

If a student applies for a postal vote, this applies to both elections, assuming they are eligible to vote in both.

The electoral register can be viewed from May 4 to June 18, 2020 at the Election Office, which is located in the RWTH Main Building, Templergraben 55, Room 032. In case of inaccuracies in the electoral register, appeals can be filed to the chair of the election within the viewing period. The appeal must be made in writing or officially recorded on site. All individuals who are eligible to vote are listed in the electoral register.

The templates for election nominations can be used to nominate individuals and must be submitted by 12 noon on May 11, 2020. Two PDF forms are available for download: one for nominations by students and one for nominations by employees. Late submissions cannot be taken into account. When forming committees, it is important to ensure that men and women are equally represented. This should also be taken into account when nominating candidates.

The election announcements for both employees and students will be published on the Election Office's official posting board on April 20, 2020. All the important election regulations will also be on display there.

Nominations for the individual groups for election to the Senate and the faculty councils will be announced on the posting board and also on this website by June 2, 2020 at the latest.
