Division 1.1 Academic Affairs, Examination and University Law belongs to the Department of Academic Affairs and Registrar's Office within RWTH Aachen's Central University Administration.

 

Our Responsibilities

Responsibilities of Division 1.1 include management of the Senate and other committees, such as the Constitutional Committee and the Equal Opportunities Committee.

The Electoral Office, situated in Division 1.1, organizes the election of members of the Senate and the faculty councils at RWTH Aachen University.

The Division advises and supports examiners, examination boards, and the Faculties with legal questions and matters regarding examination and examination procedural law. Additionally the Division is responsible for administrative lawsuits and appeal proceedings about examination and admissions matters.

 

The Division is also responsible for the legal review of a broad range of regulations, including general and degree course-specific examination regulations, doctorate regulations, as well as habilitation, student body, and Faculty regulations. These activities also include dealing with legal questions relating to higher education law, including doctoral, postdoctoral and student body law. In addition, the Division exercises legal supervision over the student body.

The regulations and statutes of the University, which are adopted by the various University committees, are published as Official Announcements.

The department is also responsible for the legal review of applications for the award of the titles of Associate Professor and Honorary Professor and for drawing up the University's gender equality plans.

Department 1.1 is also home to the Scholarships for Doctoral Students.

Accreditation of German Student Initiatives

German student associations can submit a Request for Accreditation as a Student Initiative of RWTH Aachen University to the Division of Examination and Statutory Law.
