A Space for Scientific Communication
Division 3.2 – Press and Communications at RWTH is responsible for organizing and carrying out numerous events at the University. Its high-profile events provide the perfect platform for RWTH's science communication and ensure a lively exchange between the University and the public. In this way, the University continually offers the public the opportunity to experience its aim to "intensify the public dialog between science and society, especially in order to promote a reflective attitude toward progress in technology, science, and medicine", as specified in the Mission Statement, first-hand.
The Division of Events and RWTHextern Citizens' Forum brings together relevant parties from the University, business, politics, and civil society. It organizes and accompanies science events as well as a series of special events at which not only RWTH graduates are celebrated, honored, and awarded, but also individuals who have rendered outstanding services to the University, teaching, and science.
The division also organizes internal events and information events and is in charge of film productions and podcasts, particularly within the Knowledge Hub together with Division 3.1. The Division of Events and RWTHextern Citizens' Forum also participates in joint projects with the City of Aachen.
Events Organized and Managed by Division 3.2
High-Profile Science Events
The RWTH Science Night "5 to 12" attracts more than 6,000 visitors every year. Highlights from science are presented up close at exhibit booths, in lectures, demonstrations, and in shows. The University also transmits its knowledge to the general public through the RWTH Knowledge Hub. For example, two public GreenTech Expos on the topics of "Plastics and the Circular Economy" and "Energy" offered unusual insights into current research approaches and projects.
Citizens' Forum RWTHextern
The Citizens' Forum RWTHextern also offers hands-on university experiences and involves the general public with several types of events, such as Uni at City Hall, Culture Lab, and Technology on Tour.
Largest University Graduation Celebration in Germany
RWTH's annual graduation celebration is the time when we honor our graduates. Around 5,000 people celebrate across faculties in the dressage stadium of the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein, and it all starts with an impressive procession into the stadium.
A Look Back at the Year - With Guests Present
Every year at the end of January and on behalf of the Rectorate, RWTHtransparent presents key figures, facts, and highlights from the past year as a celebratory annual review to guests.
