The departments of Central University Administration or ZHV are organizational administrative units with defined thematic responsibilities. They are managed by department heads, who support the chancellor in managing the ZHV.  They make decisions in all cases of fundamental importance to their department and services, as long as a decision from the chancellor is not needed.


Aside from other responsibilities, they are also charged with the planning, organization, and coordination within their department. The department heads are the superiors of the respective employees and take organizational and human resources precautions for their department status and make recommendations to the chancellor regarding this.

Department heads make contributions to important human resources decisions, such as changing work places, the promotion or grouping of employees, within their field.
