Staff Development Symposium in Academia
Sustainable Strategies for Universities
Until now, academics and researchers in research and academic institutions have often not been systematically and strategically prepared for leadership and management responsibilities or for questions about their career development. In order to live up to universities' interests in the commitment and promotion of its best minds and the career demands of researchers, concepts, structures, and strategies in human resources development are promoted in academia.
A symposium titled "Staff Development in Academia – Sustainable Strategies for Universities" took place at RWTH Aachen on October 1 and 2, 2013, to address the current discussion and status of development. Many well-known speakers and more than 140 participants exchanged thoughts and ideas about staff development at universities and research institutions, highlighted best-practice examples, and discussed challenges.
