2013 Distinguished RWTH Fellows
In May 2013, Rector Ernst Schmachtenberg, Vice-Rector Doris Klee, and Vice-Rector Aloys Krieg presented the six RWTH Fellows with their certificates.
The "RWTH Fellows are good example of binding outstanding professors to the university. They are given to scientists who have distinguished themselves in research," says Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Doris Klee, Vice-Rector for Human Resources Management and Development at RWTH Aachen.
In this first call, the goal of the RWTH Fellows program is to honor professors, who have completed oustanding work in research. It offers the possibility to step back from teaching responsibilities and to concentrate on research for a certain period of time. In order to ensure that the quality of teaching is maintained, fellows must submitted a concept for how their teaching will be assumed by another individual, should the fellows choose to take advantage of the offered break from teaching.
External experts were included in the selection of the research projects and ideas. The first call was targeted towards professors in all RWTH Aachen faculties.
