Activities in the Summer Vacation 2022

Please note

Due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, we advise you to take regular tests and we would advise you to wear a protective mask.

Agenda

  1. A day at the adventure playground begins with having breakfast together. Afterwards, the excursions and play activities begin. At noon there are packed lunches, which are brought from home.

The Family Services Center is pleased to offer three weeks of vacation activities this summer. The registration period will be from March 1 to 31. This year, children in the age range 6-13 can take part in all the weeks that we offer.

The three weeks will again have different themes:

  • S1, June 27 to July 1: Sustainability
  • S2, July 4 to 8: Circus week
  • S3, July 11 to 15: Sports week

To ensure that the vacation activities can take place with the greatest possible security during the pandemic, the Family Services Center has decided to reduce the size of the groups and to make a negative Corona certificate required for participation. In our planning we are in close coordination with the Youth Welfare Office Aachen and the Family Service Office of the University Hospital RWTH Aachen. At the beginning of the week and on Wednesdays, the children have to prove that they can participate in the activities either by providing a COVID rapid test from the parents or by providing the results from a test from an official center. The self-tests will be provided by the Family Services Center and can be picked up at the Family Services Center the week before the vacation. In addition, masks must be worn.

Please note that the measures are always being adapted to the current pandemic. Therefore, there may still be changes to the program. The safety and health of all participants is fundamental for us and this is our first priority under the current circumstances. This will ensure that the vacation activities can be carried out in the long term and in a healthy and safe manner for all participants.

We are looking forward to the vacation and to having a great time.

Registration Process

To register your child or children for the summer vacation, please send the completed registration form by to the vacation team or by fax to 0241 80 92545.

In the event that the weeks become overbooked, all applications received will first be collected until March 31, 2022. Subsequently, a lottery will be drawn to determine which families will receive a place. All children of one family will be considered together. Children who do not get a place in the requested week will be put on a waiting list. For weeks that are not fully booked by March 31, 2022, further applications will be accepted in the order in which they are received.

The final allocation of places will take place as soon as the signed childcare contract and the parental contribution have been received by the Family Services Center.

What Is the University Adventure Playground?

Target Group

The University Adventure Playground is a vacation recreation service for the children of RWTH members and students. The RWTH Family Services Center initiated this service to give employed and student parents the possibility to have their children supervised during the Easter, summer, and fall breaks.

Children of employees of the Uniklinik RWTH Aachen can register at the Family Service Office for the Uniklinik RWTH Aachen vacation recreation

Registrations for parents outside the University can also be considered for weeks that are not fully booked.

Program

The program is designed with children aged six to eleven in mind. It is targeted towards sports enthusiasts and adventurous children who want to experience something special during their break. Each week has a different topic: children will be researching, playing, crafting, discovering, and doing sports together. Some of the topics are related to RWTH and its institutions and faculties.

It is also possible to form integrative groups including children with disabilities. Please contact the Family Services Center for more details. Please note, however, that we cannot supervise children who cannot climb stairs or are in need of nursing support, as our facilities and restrooms are not fully accessible for the disabled.

We will send you the final details about the week that you have booked at least a week before the program starts.

Daily Schedule

Children and their supervisors go on exciting discovery and experience tours in the Meuse-Rhine Euroregion area and within our university during the supervised period.

You can drop your child off at the specified meeting point between 7:45 and 8:30am. The program ends at 4pm. Please pick your child up by 4:15pm. If you need to pick your child up at an earlier time on a specific day, please let us know in advance.

An adventure playground day starts with a collective self-made breakfast. Excursions and games then follow. For lunch, the children will either eat a warm meal prepared by the participants, a meal at one of the Student Services canteens or cafeterias, or a self-packed lunch.
