Special RWTH Events

In 2020, RWTH turned 150. We wanted to celebrate this special anniversary with our teaching staff, employees, students, friends, and anyone else curious about us. But then the reality of the pandemic hit hard, and we had to cancel all the events planned to mark the occasion in 2020.

As we all know, there is always the opportunity to innovate in every crisis. We made up for many of our anniversary plans, for example, we held a major joint anniversary exhibition of RWTH and the City of Aachen at Centre Charlemagne and we adapted planned events to the circumstances.

With our anniversary movie, we succeeded in creating a virtual show, a real alternative community experience, on the actual birthday of RWTH, October 10, 2020. Our anniversary movie will also make a lasting impression beyond our anniversary, and you can see it for yourself at any time!

Further fascinating insights into RWTH are available via our numerous movie clips, podcasts, and short audio clips. For example, they bring selected research topics, the work of our scholars, and the views and perspectives of our students closer to all interested parties.

We are also making an impression with our Next Generation University initiative:
We are developing an intellectual structure that is appropriately related to the global challenges of our time and taps into the potential arising from the networking of science, business, society, and politics. A platform that successively brings stakeholders together in a learning process, and promotes self-critical questioning, bold action, and the sharing of innovative model projects at universities – all this for the benefit of society.

We provide information about upcoming and past Next Generation University events and projects.

At the beginning of each year, we present brilliant highlights, facts, and figures from the past academic year at our RWTHtransparent event in front of guests.
