WDR Bigband feat. Theo Bleckmann

Saturday, December 08, 2018, 8:00pm

Theo Bleckmann originally hails from Dortmund, but he has been living in New York for many years now, working as a singer, musician and teacher. Although – the title "singer" might be selling him short, because Bleckmann has incredible range, freely moving about between Jazz and Classical, between improvisation and experiment. Driven by an irrepressible spirit of adventure he keeps pushing the boundaries during his singing routine and constantly tries to broaden his repertoire. Bleckmann is able to coax many emotions out of his voice, being sensitive in one moment, only to switch to provocative the next, oscillating between traditional sound on one hand and visionary on the other. With Miho Hazama, an arranger who has received many awards for her work and also lives in New York, he has found an ideal partner to bring this special program to RWTH Aachen University, where he'll be collaborating with WDR Bigband.
