Which are the exceptional achievements that are behind the nobel prizes of 2016? On December 10, 2016, they were awarded in Stockholm.

One week before the awards event, RWTH Aachen researchers offered presentations in easy to understand language about the year's topics and receipients in the categories Physics, Chemistry and Medicine.

 

Was Hitler ill?

The number of Adolf Hilter's diagnosed illnesses – in part diagnosed after his death – has become incalculable. The picture of a psychopath dependent on medication in the bunker of the Reich Chancellery is part of one of the most persistent myths about Hitler. It was not uncommon for the various diagnoses to be used as an explanation or even as an excuse for the crimes of the NS period.

Dr. Henrik Eberle discussed the different diagnoses and their importance to the history of the Hitler myth in his talk. He will also address the questions of whether the dictator was actually ill and how much this affected his actions.

On November 12, 2016 at 5:03pm CET, the exceedingly difficult "Rosetta" mission succeeded with the "Philae" lander touching down on the Churyumov-Gerasimenko comet.

On this occasion, RWTHextern and Volkshochschule Aachen collaborated to host a series of lectures on the topic of space probes, offering deep insight into the fascinating world of unmanned space travel.
