FAQ Doctoral Academy Booking and Seat Allocation Procedures
When can I register for Doctoral Academy seminars and workshops?
There are four quarterly online registration periods per year. Registration starts four weeks before the beginning of the new seminar program. We communicate the exact date to all Doctoral Academy members in advance by email. You can view the new seminar program on our website starting one week before the registration period begins.
How are seminar places allocated?
After the end of the registration period, registration will be closed. Within the next five working days, spots will be allocated as follows:
- Seminars for which places continue to be available will be immediately re-opened for registration. All those who have registered for a seminar will receive a booking confirmation.
- For seminars where the number of registrations corresponds to the number of places available, all those who have registered will receive a registration confirmation.
- For events with more registrations than places available, places will be randomly assigned among those who registered their interest. Anyone who is not allocated a place will be placed on the waiting list. In any case, you will receive an email either confirming your booking or informing you that you have not received a place and that you have been place on the waiting list.
How can I book a free place after the first allocation period is over? How can I get placed on the waiting list?
Once the process described above has been completed, all seminars/worshops will reopen for further registrations. Open places are available for registration. If there are currently no open spots left, you can be put on the waiting list.
Remaining places or places that have become vacant will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. The registration period is open unti the beginning of the seminar/workshop.
Does the allocation process apply to all seminars, workshops and events?
The allocation process described above only applies to Doctoral Academy seminars, whose event ID contains "...-DOC-..." or "...-ALE-..."), with the exception of the Scientific Writing and Conference English courses, for which you can register through the Language Center or the Writing Center.
The overview also shows seminars, workshop, and events offered by other providers - here, the allocation process does not apply. Please note the instructions of the respective provider.
