Leibniz Association Institutions
The Leibnitz Assocation connects 96 independent research institutions. Their orientation ranges from the natural sciences, engineering, and environmental sciences, to business and economics, the spatial sciences, and the social sciences, to the humanities.
Leibnitz institutes work on social, economic, and ecologically relevant questions. They conduct knoweldge and application oriented basic research. They maintain scientific infrastructures and offer research-based services.
DWI – Leibniz Institute for Interactive Materials |
---|
DWI carries out application oriented research in the fields of macromolecular chemistry soft matter nanotechnology, protein engineering, and membrane technology. In close cooperation with institutes of RWTH Aachen University, the DWI develops new processes, methods, and building blocks for the design of interactive materials. These materials are characterized by, for example, self-organization and programmed formation of structures. The DWI's research attempts to understand the interactions in biohybrid structures, which is key to create interactive materials. |
