Power to Fuel Competence Center
Considering a sustainable development, the production of alternative fuels and vehicle movements is one of the key challenges of our time. The conversion of regeneratively produced electricity to fuels offers a promising approach. Not only is a sustainable and CO2 free produced fuel arisen, but also a useful energy storage with a longer storage period follows.
The Power to Fuel Competence Center has devoted itself to the ambitious goal of developing innovative processes in order to achieve the highest possible efficiency in the conversion of electrical energy into fuels.
The interdisciplinary nature of the research forms the basis for a successful integration of all individual processes into a process chain from power generation, fuel production to its use. A holistic process analysis and optimization of the process with the fuel as degree of freedom is characterized by the Competence Center Power to Fuel. A total of eight research institutes of RWTH Aachen University and Forschungszentrum Jülich are working together to develop a comprehensive overall concept.
Due to their effective work the researchers of the Project House represent an important contact for cooperation partners from industry and business.
