A Computational study will be performed to increase the understanding of gas transport in porous microstructures in the field of fuel cell applications. Existing computational programs based on the Lattice Boltzmann method are used to investigate gas transport in components of polymer membrane electrolyte fuel cells. The simulation results give insight in the characteristics of transport phenomena in microstructures.

Task

The student will perform simulations and interpret the results at a range of parameters regarding material properties, geometries, and operating conditions. The research includes visualization of the results and reporting.

Requirements

- Background in fluid mechanics and computational methods. - Working in an interdisciplinary team.
