In the future, a product-oriented production with reduced post-processing will be a key factor in additive manufacturing. Artificial intelligence methods can optimize the production preparation by e.g. reinforcement learning of the axis movement of a 5-axis printer. The group "Additive Manufacturing Systems" at the WZL is concerned with the challenges of making the production of plastic components more flexible and is looking for innovative solutions. In our team, you will work on the future-oriented development and application of additive manufacturing systems. The goal of resource-efficient printing with a 5-axis system is elementary to develop 3D printing from an isolated solution to a mature production system in an automated production environment.

Task

Investigation in the context of the Internet of Production, solutions of digitization using the example of additive manufacturing. In your work you will soon investigate applications of artificial intelligence in production engineering. Subsequently, motion concepts of a multi-axis 3D printer will be developed. Your activities can be adapted to individual fields of interest.
