Task interruptions are widespread in both private and work environments. The prevalence of task interruptions has been examined in several work environments, and it has been consistently demonstrated that task interruptions occur multiple times within a day. Task interruptions have a harmful effect on human performance. This is evident in both the increased processing time and vulnerability to errors in interrupted tasks compared to non-interrupted tasks. In the present project, we examine the cognitive mechanisms underlying performance deteriorations in task-interruption situations.

Task

Depending on your interests, you can choose your own topic within the project. Based on this topic, we will develop a small research project. You will then review the relevant literature for this project, develop ideas for a computer-based experiment, and collect the data (i.e. test subjects). Together with your supervisor, you will analyze the data and interpret the findings.
