Excellence Cluster: Internet of Production

As opposed to traditional manufacturing technologies, additive manufacturing enables the local variation of material properties by changing the material composition during build-up. Being able to adjust material properties in certain areas of the product offers advantages like integrating functionality, saving resources and reducing assembly efforts.

Task

You will be designing, manufacturing and testing a functionally graded product for industrial applications which is combining a technical and a compostable material. You will focus on the influences of both material composition and parameter settings on processing and performance of the components. Your work will be conducted within a research group that is targeting developments towards real industrial applications for future mobility, production, and consumer products.

Requirements

We are searching for highly motivated students who are eager to support the process development of multi-material AM. Prior experience with 3D-printing and polymer processing is beneficial but not necessary.
