MoveOn

Ginning machines are the entry stage to high quality textile products. Currently they are still seen as agricultural and robust devices, which are only adjusted for mass production, no quality production. But this shall change, because there is a significant quality increase in the whole textile process chain for longer cotton firbres. Therefore this development is long overdue. There are already machine differences, as there are roller and saw gins. The task is challanging but worth in any case of daily life.

Task

Tasks might be conceptual design of a whole ginning plant or explicit ginning machine design and development. Practical participation in building up a model machine at the institute is also possible. Background information and a first proof of concept is given, due to an currently ongoing research project. This design is for phase 2 of the project. Therefore, there is a big existing data basis. Goal is the machine efficiency improvement, as well as cotton and seed quality improvement.

Requirements

Mechanical engineering skills, good mechanical understanding and unconventional design ideas
