MoveOn

Fibre-reinforced composites with different matrix materials (i.e. polyurethane (PU)) are widely used in various industries in order to produce complex lightweight components. Sandwich-components with foamed cores are a promising possibility to reduce weight of such components even further. Today, the production of sandwich-components with a foamed core and compact top-layers is a complex two-step process. The project´s goal is to produce polyurethane (PU) lightweight sandwich-components with high mechanical properties in short cycle times in a single process step. Therein, the impregnation of the fibre reinforcements in the top-layers is a crucial point during processing. In addition to investigations of the production technology, the mechanical properties and the impregnation quality of the sandwich-components are tested.

Task

- Material analysis - Production of sandwich parts - Part testing (e.g. microscopy)

Requirements

- Knowledge of plastic processing - Team working abilities - Result orientated working attitude
