MoveOn

In the environment of an efficient and economic production of lightweight materials the manufacturing process of fibre reinforced thermoplastic Composites (FRTCs) is analysed and developed at the ITA. FRTCs are heated and then pressed into three-dimensional components. This innovative material has the great potential of replacing steel and aluminium sheets in a wide range of applications. In order to establish this new fibre reinforced composites at the market, it is necessary to constantly develop new material combinations.

Task

You will develop a new FRTCs for automotive design applications which will be able to conduct light in a certain way. The Task will include the following process steps: - choosing the right material - fibre placement - film stacking - pressing - mech. analysis - thermal analysis By conducting a systematic investigation you will identify the best material combination for crash relevant parts in an automotive environment.

Requirements

Knowledge in textile/plastics/mechanical engineering desired but not essential. Self-motivated and diligent person. Problem solving orientated.
