MoveOn

Antennas are used in various applications. One of those applications is radio-astronomy, where astronomical features are examined in the RF-frequency range on the base of precision measurements. For those kinds of measurements the knowledge of every parameter in the antenna system is crucial. Up to now, the influence of the protective paint coating on the antenna's reflector has been neglected. The objective of this thesis is a clear understanding of the influence on the antenna's performance.

Task

The first part is a detailed literature study on measurement techniques and previous work. The second part includes measurements of paint samples as well as simulations to evaluate their influence.

Requirements

-A strong understanding of the process of scientific literature reviews -Strong knowledge of Material Properties and Electromagnetic Fields -Knowledge of Antenna Design and Measurement is advantageous
