Pohang University of Science and Technology – POSTECH
Profile
Postech is one of most renowned universities in South Korea and frequently comes out on top in international rankings in engineering and natural sciences.
The private university was endowned by large steel manufacturer. It is located at the edge of the industrial city Pohang in the southeast Korea, an hour's car ride from Korea's second largest city, Busan. Pohang has approximately 500000 residents and offers a beach, many shopping options, and reasonable nightlife.
With a little over three thousand students, the university is on the smaller side. As a result of the good student/faculty ratio it offers very good mentoring. The course size is also reasonable compared to Aachen. The language of instruction is most often English.
Postech also offers research stays.
Exchange students are housed in the International Dormitory. Students from around the world live here along with Korean students, who regularly offer excursions and additional recreational courses.
