The University of Chile was founded on November 19, 1842. It is the oldest university in Chile and one of the oldest on the American continent.

It is located in the Chilean capital of Santiago de Chile. The public university is particularly internationally oriented and comprises a total of 14 faculties and 5 interdisciplinary institutes.

Today, the university is at the forefront of the Chilean higher education system when it comes to teaching, research, and design.
