Kyoto University is one of the largest and most prestigious universities in Japan. It was founded in 1897 as the Imperial University. It consists of ten faculties that are distributed among three different campuses. There are also 17 graduate schools, 13 research institutes, and 28 research centers. The university has also had a university museum since 1997.

Kyoto University offers the Kyoto University Amgen Scholars Program for undergraduate students in natural sciences. It is targeted to students who want to get an insight into research and studying at a Japanese university. The Kyoto Startup Summer School (KS3) – a two-week summer program – also aims to give you a taste of Japanese student life, as well as the start-up scene there.
