The Harbin Institute of Technology, founded as early as 1920, is has three campuses spanning the entire country from North to South: Harbin Campus in Heilongjiang province, Weihai Campus in Shandong province and Shenzhen Graduate School in Guangdong province. The exchange program with the Faculty of Civil Engineering takes place at the university campus in Harbin.

The university is highly regarded internationally, which is also reflected in various rankings: HIT is considered to be one of the top universities in the country, particularly in the fields of science and engineering. In the current "Best Global Universities" rankings list, published by U.S. News, it has been ranked sixth worldwide in the engineering sciences.

Type of stay

Three-month long internship in the field of road construction. The internship includes a research stay at a lab as well as the opportunity to work for a road construction company. On request, internships may also be arranged in other areas of construction, environmental or transport engineering.

  1. Very good English skills
  2. TOEFL is not required
  3. Abitur certificate or certificate from the Language Center is required (at least B1)
  4. In order to take courses offered in Chinese, students must provide proof of having attained at least 5 points in the Chinese Profieciecy Test (HSK).
