The Harbin Institute of Technology, founded as early as 1920, is has three campuses spanning the entire country from North to South: Harbin Campus in Heilongjiang province, Weihai Campus in Shandong province and Shenzhen Graduate School in Guangdong province. The exchange program with the Faculty of Civil Engineering takes place at the university campus in Harbin.
The university is highly regarded internationally, which is also reflected in various rankings: HIT is considered to be one of the top universities in the country, particularly in the fields of science and engineering. In the current "Best Global Universities" rankings list, published by U.S. News, it has been ranked sixth worldwide in the engineering sciences.
