The Japan Aerospace and Exploration Agency is a publicly funded astronautics agency conducting research in several astronautics-related fields. It is a nationally and internationally recognized institution working in collaboration with the European Space Agency ESA, NASA, and higher education and research institutions worldwide.
As part of the cooperation with JAXA, RWTH students in the fields of engineering and the natural sciences have the opportunity to complete research projects of a few months duration or even Master's theses in site in Japan. Alternatively, open arrangement with JAXA, it is possible to individually arrange periods of study or research abroad.
