Peking University and RWTH Aachen University established a partnership for student exchange in 2011. Within the framework of this partnership, up to to five RWTH Aachen students can study at the university for a one or two semester stay. Tuition fees are waived. There are no other scholarships available through the partnership.

Peking University is one of the universities in China that is directly governed by the Ministry of Education and is thus a recipient of public funding programs. This is evident in its facilities. The university was renamed Metropolitan University in 1898 during the 100 Days of Reform and then again renamed Peking University in 1912. A total of 46,074 students study at Peking University, of which 13,423 are in the regular cycle and 12,075 work in research. The university has partnerships with 219 international universities.

The academic year at Peking University begins in September. The second semester begins after the Chinese New Year holidays in February. Chinese is the main language of instruction, however there are a limited number of courses offered in English.
