Information for Residents
RWTH will welcome this year's first-year students from October 4 to 8, 2021.
This is an important time for students: They have moved to a new city and have to find their way in their new home and at the university. They also want to make friends and contacts for the next few years.
From RWTH's perspective this time is particularly important for students' further development and academic success. The orientation week serves as a good foundation for the academic success of each and every students. This week is organized by the student representative councils, that is RWTH students, together with the faculties and university administration.
RWTH alone expects about 7,000 first-year students, mentored by 1,000 student volunteers. Newly enrolled students from the other Aachen universities are included in addition to this. This amount of people is a challenge not only for the university; you will meet many more young people within Aachen. We are doing our best to reduce the amount of nuisance and disturbances as much as possible.
The usual big rally for first-semester students will not take place this year. Even if there are some alternative plans, there should not be any large crowds and disturbances for residents. Should there nevertheless be disturbances or obvious violations of hygiene requirements, you are welcome to contact the ESA Team, who is in charge of the Orientation Week.
We would love for you to also welcome the new Aacheners to their new home!
