Quality Management Instruments
In order to draw on a sound data base for our evaluation system, we are using controlling data from the University's statistics department. Moreover, RWTH Aachen has quality assurance instruments in place that focus on the entire student life cycle.
First-Year Student Survey
Surveys already begin at the start of the student life cycle with the first-year student survey, in which, for example, first-year students explain why they chose RWTH as a university or how they informed themselves about their course of study in advance.
Student Course Evaluation
Each semester students extensively evaluate the quality of teaching and grade their courses and teachers in the student course evaluation.
Course of Study Evaluation
Course of study evaluations are regularly carried out in order to systematically and comprehensively analyze the strengths and weaknesses of individual courses of study.
Module and Examination Survey
Are students satisfied with the organization of the modules they have to take? What services help students to prepare for their exams and how do students rate their own exam preparation? The Module and Examination Survey asks these and other questions. The pilot phase of the survey begins during the exam period of the 2016 summer semester.
The Faculties are offered a summary of the pass rates twice a year, which offer an overview of the current exam results, in order to directly address the Faculty's examiners and if necessary, create measures to improve the pass rate.
How do students evaluate the organization of the studies and the quality of teaching? The University gathers feedback on these topics and others related to the course of studies from all Bachelor's and Master's students using the RWTH student survey. The pilot phase of the survey will take place summer semester 2017.
RWTH is involved in the national, collaborative project Graduate Survey, which is centrally coordinated by INCHER Kassel and provides findings on where graduates are and retrospective consideration of study conditions.
