Alumni Meeting in Stuttgart with a Tour of the Stuttgart 21 Construction Site

We are excited to be able to invite you to get to know the Deutsche Bahn Rail Project Stuttgart/Ulm – also known as project Stuttgart 21 – and to visit the construction site of the future Stuttgart underground station. There you can see for yourself the extensive construction grounds and processes while also getting a first impression of the elaborate architecture that is planned for this site.

New Issue of Alumni Magazine

In October of last year, young architect Marcella Hansch was awarded the Bundespreis Ecodesign for her Pacific Garbage Screening project aimed at counteracting the pollution of the world's oceans with plastic garbage, which she developed in her Master's Thesis at the completion of her architecture studies at RWTH Aachen.

During her interview featured in the newest Issue 63 of RWTH Alumni Magazine “keep in touch,” the young architect not only talks about the idea for her project and the latest developments, but also about her time as a university student. As usual, the new edition of the alumni publication also offers other RWTH Aachen University related features.

International Academy Offers: Reduced Participation Fees for Members of the RWTH Alumni Network

As a member of the RWTH Alumni Network you receive a discount for continuing education courses at RWTH International Academy. When booking a course of study, you receive a 10 percent discount, and for certificate courses and seminars at 15 percent discount. You can book your course with the discount by using your RWTH email address on the RWTH Weiterbildungsplattform. This discount cannot be combined with other offers from RWTH International Academy.

RWTH Certificate Course “Business Model Innovation”

RWTH Certificate Course “Chief Technology Manager”
September 11 - 15, 2017, Munich

In collaboration with the Fraunhofer Academy and the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT, the RWTH Business School will offer the Certificate Course Chief Technology Manager in September. The program includes a detailed presentation of approaches that have been proven successful in research settings as well as in industrial applications – from setting up consistent technology strategies or identifying new technologies to the development of business model innovations. This continuing education is offered as a five day course to take place in Munich. Further information can be found on our website.

Executive MBA at RWTH Aachen – Take the Next Step on Your Career Path

Starting September 2017, the Executive MBA Program at RWTH Aachen is offered in a new modular structure, which allows students to chose the path suited exactly to their individual needs. Having first taken 11 mandatory modules, students may then chose between six different Advanced Studies tracks, offering focus areas such as Technology and Innovation Management, Digital Transformation or Predictive Enterprise. In Personal Development, emphasis is also placed on individual personal development. From a variety of different perspectives, the different conditions, tasks, instruments and competencies of modern management are examined. “Friendship Needs Time” – Results of a Workshop on Integrating Refugees

Initial results of the research project “Integration Processes of Refugees in North Rhine-Westphalian cities and municipalities” were presented during an Expert Workshop at RWTH Aachen at the end of June. Over 20 experts from Cologne and Heinsberg County discussed language, work, housing, and social networks. The three departments of geography in Bonn, Aachen, and Cologne have been working on the project for almost a year.

Replacement Building for RWTH Institute of Mineral Engineering

With a symbolic first turning of the sod, work has now begun on the replacement building for the Institute of Mineral Engineering, EGHI. RWTH Rector Ernst Schmachtenberg, Dr. Sandra Scheermesser from the NRW ministry of Culture and Science, Ute Willems from BLB NRW as well as Head of Institute Professor Rainer Telle together officially declared that construction is beginning.

RWTH Aachen invites school students to explore studies at university in a STEM-subject for a week during their summer break. Registration was possible until July 7 and at that point in time there were still a few open spots in the following Schülerunis (de):

  • Materials Engineering, Monday, August 14 - Friday, August 18, 2017

New: Engineering Sciences Taster Course Specifically for Girls

The sucessful RWTH Taster Events formula is for the first time being expanded to last a whole week and to furthermore take place during the summer break from school. Under the name Schnupperuni für Mädchen in den Ingenieurwissenschaften (de) the newly designed course offers female upper level school students – Q1 and Q2 – a first glance into the exciting work of an engineer. The program consists of practical workshops in different fields of engineering as well as lectures on topics such as the admissions or application process and the subsequent studies at university. In addition, female engineers will talk about their own career paths and share information about career prospects.
