Issue 71, Summer Semester 2021
"The Courage Just to Do It."
In 2015, Christina Reuter, born in 1985, was still a senior engineer at the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering, or WZL for short, where she headed the Production Management department with around 25 scientific staff, a team of programmers, and around 50 support staff. At the time, she was very much involved with the topic of Industry 4.0; in particular played a major role in setting up the Demonstration Factory on Campus Melaten.
At the time, she received a request from a headhunter who had become aware of the young engineer through various publications, conferences, and the like. At the 2016 Annual General Meeting, she was then proposed as a new member of the supervisory board at one of the world's leading suppliers of forklift trucks and warehouse technology, KION Group AG – whose shareholders elected her to become Germany's youngest female supervisory board member.
In an interview for the recently published issue 71 of "keep in touch,” she talks about her responsibilities as a supervisory board member, her academic career and professional experience at Airbus Defence and Space, and her commitment to promoting women on their way into top management positions.
