Minigolf and Chainsaws: STIHL Visits RWTH
STIHL offered not just one but three entertaining events during their visit to RWTH on October 17, 2018.
Whether digitally sawing through a virtual log with the help of VR glasses or playing minigolf with a leaf blower – interested students had a lot of fun trying out various STIHL equipment in the foyer of the Audimax.
And if that wasn't exciting enough for you, you could try your hand at the escape game "STIHL Escape – Up to the Task", which had you solve puzzles involving STIHL products, virtual reality, connected products and ultrasound in order to save the world from mutated killer plants.
In this playful setting, students were able to get to know STIHL as a company while also finding out about career opportunities at the same time.
STIHL about STIHL
"Our best known product is the chainsaw – but STIHL is so much more than that: From machine builder to digital mechatronics company – the STIHL name stands both for innovative, high-quality products as well as for a smart business strategy. Smart, for example, with regard to new technologies and their great potential to make work easier for all of us – from the lumberjack in the forrest to the product manager in R&D and the colleague on the factory floor.
STIHL has established a corporate division for digitization, expanded the R&D team, created agile team structures, introduced comprehensive further training programs, and initiated partnerships with startup companies. We are in the process of putting numerous and diverse measures in place and we are not done yet – not by a long shot.
Big data, artificial intelligence, robotics and cloud computing – STIHL explores new avenues and combines concentrated machine-building know-how with a willingness to experiment with new digital technologies.
When it comes to power tools, we are a world leader. Since 1971. We want to keep it that way and that's why we are invested in promoting young talent and future engineers."
