NRW Talents Scholarship Program
RWTH Aachen University and FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences present a new scholarship for school students
The NRW Talents scholarship is intended to support dedicated high-achieving pupils from non-academic families on their educational journey. The program is aimed at young people from 8th grade onwards from all types of schools in the Städteregion Aachen and the neighboring districts of Düren, Heinsberg, and Euskirchen.
The NRW Talents program offers scholarship recipients a wide range of educational support: Participating school students are advised by their personal tutors in educational matters, and they have the opportunity to benefit from a program specifically tailored to their needs, including workshops on choosing the right career path and the right course of study, company visits, and excursions, for example to the German Bundestag in Berlin. In addition, the pupils may receive in-kind benefits such as a books or laptops, for example.
As Profesor Martina Klocke, Vice-Rector for Diversity and Equal Opportunity at FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences explains: “The scholarship is a move towards greater justice for pupils whose environment has not provided them with easy access to educational opportunities. I think it's great that we now have the chance to offer some support. Now we must make sure that this program will be used. We’re looking forward to working closely with schools and building on our talent scouting activities, informing young people about the scholarship. We will prove that we handle these scholarships carefully and constructively.”
The application period for the first round of scholarship will close in September 11, 2022. The scholarship recipients will be selected by an independent jury at the end of September.
