2013 Hans Heimann Prize for Dr. Danilo Bzdok and Professor Dr. Simon Eickhoff
This year's doctoral award from the German Association of Psychiatry, Psychotherapy, and Psychosomatics or DGPPN has been given to, among others, Dr.med. Danilo Bzdok and his doctoral advisor, Professor Dr. med. Simon B. Eickhoff, for doctoral work on the topic "Functional Specialization for Social Processes in the Medical Brain." The work was completed at RWTH Aachen within the doctoral program of the International Graduate School "Schizophrenia and Autism".
The researchers involved work at both the specialized departments at the University Hospital Aachenas well as at Forschungszentrum Jülich and at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, USA. Outstanding, techinical infrastructure in imaging processes (MRI, fMRI, PET, MEG, brain mapping) are available at all three research locations for the doctoral candidates.
The DGPPD doctoral award honors young researchers and their supervisors for the best dissertations in the field of psychiatry and psychotherapy. The prize, endowed with a total of 24000 euros, was awarded, together with the Stiftung für Seelische Gesundheit, for the fifth time to three pairs of scientists. The award ceremony took place as part of the DGPPN annual conference on Friday, November 29, 2013, in Berlin.
