RWTH Honors Family-Friendly Management Practices

11/05/2022

The "FAMOS for Family" award was recently presented to selected winners for the 15th time.

Every year, RWTH honors selected managers at the University for their family-friendly management practices with this award. The award ceremony took place for the 15th time in a virtual ceremony accompanied by the Carbon Quintet of the Collegium Musicum University Choir and Orchestra. All university employees had the opportunity to nominate their supervisors beforehand, and a jury ultimately decided on the award winners.

"The award shows that dialogue and a good and appreciative way of approaching each other are very important at RWTH," explained Sabine Brück-Dürkop, Vice-Rector for Human Resources Management and Development. RWTH's Equal Opportunity Officer, Dr. Ulrike Brands-Proharam Gonzalez, emphasized that the award shows how the University already has many examples of best practice in this area. Deputy Chancellor Thomas Trännapp noted that RWTH’s family-friendly approach is highly significant, because, for example, a family-friendly university is essential when it comes to attracting the best talent.

The jury selected the following award winners from the nominations for "Famos für Familie": Ralf Drafz, Co-Head of Division 4.2 – Management of Third-Party Funds, Vanessa Gebhardt, Institute for Materials Applications in Mechanical Engineering, Professor Christian Grund, Chair of HRM and Personnel Economics, Professor Ruth Knüchel-Clarke, Pathology Institute, Angela Poth Welter Ribeiro, Relationship Management Staff Unit, Bettina Schäfer, Institute for Automation of Complex Power Systems, and finally Professor Christoph van Treeck and Dr. Jérôme Frisch, both from the Institute of Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Building.
