On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Erasmus program, RWTH Aachen University and the German Academic Exchange Service, DAAD, will host a conference entitled "Staff Exchange and University Development."

Since 1987, the Erasmus program has been supporting students by providing funding for study abroad opportunities. In the year of its inception, the program made it possible for 657 students to study abroad; today, RWTH alone sends hundreds of students each year to one of the three hundred European participating universities. Today, Erasmus is one of the largest mobility programs in the world.

On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, the RWTH International Office and the German Academic Exchange Service, DAAD, have joined forces to organize a conference on the topic of “Staff Mobility and University Development. About 140 Erasmus coordinators from all over Germany are expected to attend. The event is scheduled to start Monday, November 20, 2017, at 1pm at the Super C, Templergraben 57, Aachen.

Erasmus Students to Form a Human Chain

The conference organizers want to show the students’ enthusiasm for Europe and the European exchange program by forming a human chain on November 20. Erasmus students who came to RWTH in the winter semester and former Erasmus students from RWTH Aachen will participate to show their support for a Europe without borders.

Starting at 2pm, the human chain will be formed in front of the SuperC. Participants will walk to the Aachen market square and return to the SuperC via Pontstraße.
