What's New at CERN? Findings from the World's Largest Particle Physics Laboratory

At CERN, the European Laboratory for Particle Physics, about 18,000 physicists and engineers from 85 nations explore the fundamental building blocks of matter. The discovery of the Higgs boson at the Large Hadron Collider was a great success, opening a new chapter in particle physics. But there is much more to discover at CERN. For example, how antimatter atoms behave, what elementary particles have to do with the formation of clouds, or how does CERN succeed in organizing the worldwide collaboration of particle physicists? The lecture presents current developments at CERN and also takes a look at possible future projects.

The Understanding Physics lecture series hosted by the RWTH Department of Physics and RWTHextern seeks to bring the general public up to speed on some of the most fascinating physics research that is taking place right now.

The talk, which will be given in German, is scheduled to begin at 11am, Otto Fuchs Lecture Theater H03, C.A.R.L. Claßenstraße 11, Aachen. Amission is free of charge, registration is not required.
