The conference "Are Yesterday's Newspapers for the Learning of Tomorrow? Historical Daily News in History Class" is taking place in Aachen on October 9 and 10, 2014.

The International Newspaper Museum, the RWTH Institute of Political Science, and the RWTH Didactics of Social Sciences Teaching and Research Area are expecting 40 participants. Scientists from the fields of media history and the pedagogy of history as well as interested teachers are invited.

Due to their diverse topics, newspapers are well suited for historical learning. Not only for their political-historical perspective, but history class with an intense discussion of economic, social, everyday, cultural, or mentality questions is possible.

The conference begins October 9, 2014, at 7pm with a public talk by Prof. Dr. Frank Bösch, Director of the Center for Contemporary Research Potsdam. Bösch will be speaking on the topic, "Newspapers as a Source of Social Science. Foundations, Methods, and Perspectives of Media History."
