Vocational training for mathematic-technical software developers takes three years and ends with an final exam given by the IHK. Aside from vocational training in the fields of mathematics, computer science, and programming in university institutions or IT companies in the region, apprentices are also enrolled in the dual Bachelor course of study "Scientific Programming," offered by FH Aachen at RWTH's IT Center. Many students then continue with a Master's course of study, for example at RWTH Aachen or FH Aachen, or to the courses of study "Artificial Intelligence" or "Operations Research" at the University of Maastricht. Some graduates remain in the regional IT market in companies and university institutions. Here they develop software and work for Aachen as a place for IT.
