4th RWTH Motor Day

On Saturday, June 23, the 4th RWTH Motor Day took place, a 120 kilometer vintage car rally around Aachen and the surrounding area, including sections through Belgium and the Netherlands. In addition, the 92 teams had to complete a number of tasks, including two special tests on the test track of the RWTH Institute of Automotive Engineering, ika.

Vintage Cars Built in the Thirties

Highlights included a Morris Eight Tourer, built in 1935 and the oldest car in the competition; a 46-year-old Mercedes Benz 600, and a Lancia Flaminia GT built in 1971. Teams of Youngtimers participiated in a race inn their own class – incoluding cars such as an Opel Corsa A built in 1993 and a Mini Cooper from the late 1990s painted in British Racing Green. Participants were automobile enthusiasts from the student body of the Aachen universities, RWTH and FH employees, professors, as well as citizens from Aachen and the neighboring countries.

e.GO Life und SpeedE

Another highlight was the presentation of the current model of the e.GO Life electric car, leading the initial field with starting number 0. Furthermore, the ika presented SpeedE, a modular electric vehicle platform for innovation and testing.
