Excellent Research Needs Excellent Management

Successful research must be professionally managed. The increasing relevance of external funding and the growing importance of strategic processes and collaborations require excellently trained experts in research, development, and management. These experts must be able to lead challenging research projects in interdisciplinary teams based in Germany and abroad.

 

Working at the interface of research and business not only demands a comprehensive understanding of the big picture, but also an integrative combination of expertise and application competency.

The RWTH Research Manager in-service continuing education program for academic staff at the University takes this development into account. The program teaches, among others, professional skills in the areas of research and external funding management, technology transfer, and self-development. The combination of lectures and group work is complemented with a practical knowledge transfer project. In addition, participants and lecturers network and share their experience with each other as an integral part of promoting excellent research in interdisciplinary teams.
